diocesan convention

The finance committee presented the result of their work to develop the 2012 budget.  Much discussion centered around the upcoming expenses such as the church's $8,800 apportion responsibility to the diocese, the priest's salary, and the need for additional help in conducting the necessary financial, and book keeping activities.  Because the stewardship campaign is not yet completed, there is not enough information about potential revenue to allow finalization of the new budget .

Giving letters, and pledge forms were distributed on January 22.  If you did not receive your letter, please contact the church.    The council has asked that the  letters of commitment be returned by January 29, 2012,  It is necessary to have all information relative to church income to be able to complete the budget process.  As previously reported, the,  church has remained financially stable, but will need to increase revenue to foster significant growth in 2012.  Contributions for the many grounds and facilites repair and maintenance,  were essential to the financial success of 2011, and the church is facing some sigificant deficit in 2012.  Please consider these challenges when submitting your pledge for 2012.  Thank you for your continued generosity.

To allow for  adequate preparation of the working budgt, the annual parish meeting has been moved to Sunday February 12, 2012.  Plan to attend so that you will have an opportunity to hear about both the challenges and opportunities for St. Raphael's in 2012.  Attendees, once again,  will be treated to a luncheon of  delicious "Stone Soup"

ST. MARGARET'S SOCIETY

St. Raphael's has a large caring family.  The St. Margaret's Society seeks to reach out to all family members at special times.   All occasions are important, and the group will keep track of Anniversaries, Birthdays, illness, death's in the family.  Maybe just to say hello.  We need to hear from you! If you or anyone you know would benefit from contact with the church, please forward the information to Bonnie Beaulieu at bonibeau@aol.com

  We Need Your Help

We have made siginificant progress in paying many of the adjacently listed projects .  We still need major help in paying the monthly utility bills. Even though you currently may be many miles away, you can still continue to support St. Raphael's. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!  Thank you for your continued generosity

 Gone Only from Sight

Henry Van Dyke

Iam standing on the seashore

Suddenly a ship at my side spreads

her white sails to the morning

breeze

She is an object of beauty and

strength, and I watch her

Until at length she is only a ribbon

 of white cloud just above

Where sea and sky mingle with each

other.

Then someone at my side says

There! She's Gone!

Gone where? Gone from my sight

   that is all

She is just as large in mast and hull,
and spar as she was when she left
    my side.

And just as able to bear her load of

living freight to the place of
    destination.

Her diminished size is in me, not in

    her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says

There!  She's Gone!

There are other voices ready to

    take the glad shout

There!  She Comes!!

 And that is dying.
