The Soup Kitchen of the
Guadalupe Center of Immokalee
The soup kitchen serves over 45,000 meals every year. During harvest season, on a busy day, the people that come to see us are able-bodied young men struggling to find work.
During the summer time and school vacations, the dining room is filled with young children that would normally receive this meal through the federal government’s Free and Reduced Lunch program for public schools. For most of the men, women and children that come, the soup kitchen is their only chance for a hot meal that day.
Historic St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church donates to the Guadalupe Center with clothes, money, but mostly with parishioners who want to help with the work of feeding of these families. We send a team of participants twice a month (the 2nd Friday and the 4th Monday of each month).
